Decision details

The Committee considered the report of the Director of Street Scene seeking approval for the location and provision of outdoor gyms within the Sefton East Parishes area.

The report indicated that the gyms would be fully funded by Sefton Primary Care Trust; that it was now proposed to install new equipment at four sites referred to below following consultation with the Area Committee and the Town/Parish Councils:

·        Maghull Leisure Centre/KGV Playing Fields – District

·        Molyneux - Local

·        Park – Local

·        Sudell – Local

The site selection process had included consultation with Friends of Parks Groups where available.

Members discussed the proposals and the selected sites in detail and referred in particular to the involvement of the various Parish and Town Councils within the area. Reference was also made to the continued maintenance of the proposed sites.

RESOLVED: That

(1)       the report be noted;

(2)       the sites selected for the provision of outdoor gyms in the Sefton East Parishes area be approved;

(3)       the Director of Street Scene be requested to investigate an even split of funding across the Molyneux, Sudell and Park Wards; and

(4)       the Director of Street Scene be requested to consult further with Ward Councillors and Parish Councillors regarding the provision of facilities and funding contributions.
