Apologies for Absence

Minutes:

Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Bennett, Bradshaw, Brennan, Dodd, Gannon, Hands, Irving, Keith, John Kelly, Marshall, McCann McGinnity, McKinley, Pitt, Pullin, Shaw, Spencer, Thomas, Viedman and Webster.

2.

Declarations of Interest

Members are requested to give notice of any disclosable pecuniary interest, which is not already included in their Register of Members' Interests and the nature of that interest, relating to any item on the agenda in accordance with the Members Code of Conduct, before leaving the meeting room during the discussion on that particular item.

Minutes:

No declarations of any disclosable pecuniary interests or personal interests were received.

3.

Election of Mayor for 2019/20

Minutes:

It was moved by Councillor John Sayers, seconded by Councillor Killen and unanimously

 

RESOLVED:

 

That June Burns, a Councillor of the Borough, be elected Mayor of the Borough for the ensuing Municipal Year and until the acceptance of office by her successor.

Councillor Burns took the Chair at this point in the meeting

4.

Election of Deputy Chair for 2019/20

Minutes:

It was moved by Councillor Maher, seconded by Councillor Michael O’Brien and unanimously

 

RESOLVED:

 

That Dave Robinson, a Councillor of the Borough, be elected Deputy Chair of the Borough for the ensuing Municipal Year and until the acceptance of office by his successor.

5.

Vote of Thanks for Retiring Mayor

Minutes:

It was moved by Councillor Maher, seconded by Councillor Michael O’Brien and unanimously

 

RESOLVED: That

 

(1)      the Council do hereby place on record its appreciation of the ability, courtesy and impartiality, shown by Councillor Dave Robinson in his capacity as Mayor of the Borough and Chair of the meetings of the Council, during the Municipal Years 2017/18 and 2018/19, and for his attendance at many civic and public functions, both inside and outside of the Borough;

 

(2)      the Council also desires to extend its thanks to Mrs Wendy Robinson for her support and encouragement given to the Mayor;

 

(3)      the Council wishes to record its appreciation of the excellent effort and involvement by both Councillor Robinson and Mrs Robinson, in connection with the Mayor of Sefton's Charity Fund;

 

(4)      the Council further desires to extend its sincere thanks to Councillor Robinson and Mrs Robinson for the hospitality extended to Royal Visits, Overseas Visitors and Civic Dignitaries hosted by this Borough; and

 

(5)      a copy of these Resolutions be passed under the Corporate Seal and presented to Councillor Robinson.

 

Councillor Robinson was then presented with framed copy of the Vote of Thanks as a token of the Council’s appreciation of the manner in which he and Mrs Wendy Robinson had undertaken their duties in the Office of Mayor during the past twenty-four months.

 

Councillor Robinson responded to the Vote of Thanks and expressed his appreciation to his Mayoress, Mrs Wendy Robinson, the members of the public, various organisations and Council officers who had supported him during his Term of Office.

6.

Adjournment of Meeting

The Council will be requested to adjourn the Annual Council Meeting at this point in the proceedings and reconvene on Thursday 16 May 2019 at 6.30pm in Bootle Town Hall. A separate agenda for the Adjourned Annual Council Meeting will be circulated to Members of the Council.
