Purpose:

This report seeks approval to award discretionary rate relief to a non-profit making organisation under the provisions of section 47 of the Local Government Finance Act 1988 (as amended by section 69 of the Localism Act 2011).

Decision:

 

That the application from Southport Old Links Golf Club be approved for 25% discretionary rate relief for the financial year 2018-2019 amounting to £3,780.00 and 25% for the financial year 2019-2020 amounting to £3,866.63.

 

Reason for the Decision:

 

Southport Old Links Golf Club is providing a valuable service to the residents of Sefton by promoting sport & physical activity.

 

Under rate retention 99% of discretionary rate relief must borne by the Council

 and 1% by the Fire Authority.

 

Alternative Options Considered and Rejected:

 

The ratepayer has applied for 25% discretionary rate relief to reduce their rate liability at Moss Lane, Churchtown, Southport, PR9 7QS.
