To update Cabinet Members on the essential maintenance and refurbishment works required to enable the reopening of Splash World and to seek agreement to proceed with the procurement of necessary work on grounds of health and safety.

Decision(s):

(1) That the contents of the report be noted

(2) That the works proceed on the grounds of Health & Safety be agreed

(3) That prudential borrowing to fund the necessary works be agreed in keeping with the scheme of delegation

Reasons for the Decision(s):

The works are required on the grounds of health and safety and if not completed will prevent Dunes Splashworld from reopening in a timely manner.

Alternative Options Considered and Rejected: (including any Risk Implications)

The alternative option s to not carry out the work but this will mean that the facility can not reopen and would pose a reputational risk to the Council.
