Decision:

Decision(s):

The report be noted and support be approved of the Electrical Safety First’s Lithium-ion Battery Safety Campaign.

Reasons for the Decision(s):

The fires caused by PLEV batteries are a significant risk that needs addressing. The Trading Standards team will continue to raise awareness and take action over unsafe products. However, until the changes asked for in the PLEV battery report and the ESF campaign are implemented, the likelihood of further fires and possible fatalities is significant.

Alternative Options Considered and Rejected

The Council could choose not to action the request from ESF to support the campaign.
