Reason(s) for the Decision(s):
There is a long-standing issue of fly tipping of household waste in rear entries. The Council receives more than 1600 reports of fly tipping from the 4 Wards where most of the entries are located and removes roughly 600 tonnes of fly tipped waste from these entries each year. This waste includes household waste, white goods, other bulky items, building materials and other material.
Following a successful application to DEFRA for funding to undertake a fly tipping intervention, a project group consisting of representatives from Public Protection, Waste Management & Street Cleansing Services, Communications and Communities was formed to develop and implement the project.
Alternative Options Considered and Rejected
None, the project was undertaken in line with the grant agreement and agreed project plan.
