Purpose:

The Homelessness Act 2002 (sections 1 to 4) places a statutory duty upon every local authority to formulate a new Homelessness Strategy, at least every 5 years. Production of a new Strategy follows a Homelessness Review process, which involves reviewing homeless evidence and data, and consultation with agencies that provide homeless related services, and with homeless clients.

Decisions:

The Cabinet considered the report of the Director of Built Environment which provided details of the Council’s proposed new Homelessness Strategy.

 

Decision Made:

 

That:

 

(1)        the Council’s Homelessness Strategy be approved; and

 

(2)       the Cabinet Member - Regeneration and Tourism be given delegated authority to finalise the governance arrangements, which would help deliver actions within the strategy.

 

Reasons for Decision:

 

The Homelessness Act 2002 requires every Local Authority to publish a Homelessness Strategy at least every 5 years. The existing Strategy was published in July 2008
