Report of the Strategic Director - Children, Schools and Families

Further to Minute No. 143 of the meeting of the Cabinet Member - Children’s Services held on 4 May 2010, the Cabinet considered the report of the Strategic Director - Children, Schools and Families seeking approval to the implementation of a scheme to enhance the facilities at Maghull High School following its redesignation as a specialist school for Arts.

RESOLVED:            That

(1)       the proposed scheme be approved as detailed in the report; and

(2)       the scheme be included in the Children, Schools and Families Capital Programme 2010/11.

Report of the Strategic Director - Children, Schools and Families

The Cabinet Member considered the report of the Strategic Director - Children, Schools and Families seeking approval of expenditure relating to Specialist Schools Redesignation Capital Grant at Maghull High School.

The report indicated that the school proposed to install tiered seating in the Arts Theatre at a cost of £35,000 and the Redesignation Specialist Schools Grant of £25,000 would be supplemented by £10,000 from the school's Devolved Formula Capital Grant.  The seating would create greater capacity within the Arts Theatre and would provide a more adaptable performance area.

RESOLVED:   That

(1)      the scheme at Maghull High School funded by Specialist Schools Redesignation Capital Grant be approved; and

(2)          Cabinet be recommended to include the proposed expenditure in the Children, Schools and Families Capital Programme 2010/11.
