Apologies for Absence

Meeting: 26/01/2023 - Council (Item 93)

Welcome and Apologies for Absence

Minutes:

The Mayor reported that it was her immense pleasure to welcome everyone present to the Extra-Ordinary Council meeting, when Members of the Council would be requested to agree to theFreedom of the Borough being conferred on the Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust, which is the highest honour the Council can bestow on any individual or organisation.

The Mayor advised that the Council had previously put on record that whilst the honour of the Freedom of the Borough was to be bestowed on the four NHS Trusts, the Council extended its gratitude to all NHS institutions who had provided services within Sefton and to Sefton residents during the pandemic and no discourtesy was intended by naming the four organisations as representatives of the wider NHS community.

The Mayor reported that the Council was very honoured to have the High Sheriff of Merseyside, Mrs Lesley Martin-Wright, Peter Dowd MP and representatives from each of the four NHS Trusts present at the meeting.

The Council then noted that apologies for absence had been received from:
