Report of the Director of Built Environment

Minutes:

Further to Minute No. 7 of the meeting of the Licensing and Regulatory Committee held on 23 September 2013, the Committee considered the report of the Director of Built Environment, on a proposal for the designation of further streets for where street trading was prohibited under the County of Merseyside Act 1980.

The Licensing and Regulatory (Urgent Referrals) Committee had been called to endorse the recommendation prior to the report being considered for approval by the full Council at it’s meeting on 21 November 2013.

The report indicated that the purpose of the designation of further streets for the prohibition of street trading under the County of Merseyside Act 1980 was to address the problems of ticket touts at the Grand National Meetings in Aintree and as such, it was recommended that the following additional areas be prohibited for street trading:

·       Ormskirk Road between Park Lane and Copy Lane; and

·       Park Lane from its junction with Ormskirk Road to the railway bridge.

A map of the area concerned was attached as annexe 1 to the report.

RESOLVED:

That the Council be recommended to designate  those areas referred to in annexe 1 of the report, under Section 36 of the County of Merseyside Act 1980 for where street trading is prohibited.
