Minutes of the meeting held on 29 November 2011

RESOLVED:

 

That subject to Minute No. 10 (Members’ Allowance Scheme) being amended by the addition of the following:

 

“(2)      the Head of Governance and Civic Services be requested to put in place arrangements to increase the membership of the Panel to 5 members, with the quorum of the Panel remaining 3 members”

 

the Minutes of the meeting held on 29 November 2011 be confirmed as a correct record.

Members' Allowance Scheme

Further to Minute No. 10 of the Meeting held on 29 November 2011 to consider further the Members’ Allowance scheme for 2012/13.

Minutes:

Further to Minute No. 10 of the Meeting held on 29 November 2011, the Panel  considered further the Members’ Allowance Scheme for 2012/13.

 

In addition, the Panel considered oral representations on the matter from the Conservative Party Group Leader, Councillor Parry.

 

RESOLVED:          That

 

(1)      the Panel notes the increased workload undertaken by Chairs of Overview and Scrutiny Committees;

 

(2)      the Panel also notes the differing roles, responsibilities and time spent on duties by Cabinet Member portfolio spokespersons;

 

(3)          accordingly, the Panel acknowledges the potential to reflect the matters referred to in (1) and (2) above in a review of the Members’ Allowance Scheme following the local government elections in May 2012; and

 

(4)      an induction/refresh session be arranged for new/existing Panel Members in early March 2012 and a formal, further meeting of the Panel be arranged in early April 2012.
