As part of the Area Review of post 16 education and skills it is proposed to merge the two colleges in the south of the borough and the two colleges in the north of the borough prior to all four colleges becoming The Sefton College to provide a better post 16 offer for Sefton residents. Because South Sefton College is set up as a school the Council legally need to 'close' it as a school and Hugh Baird simultaneously 'open' it as an FE College.
