The Panel is charged with holding the Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner to account for the discharge of functions as set out in the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011.

The membership of the Panel comprises of ten members from the five local authorities of Knowsley (1), Liverpool (3), Sefton (2), St Helens (2), and Wirral (2) plus two independent co-opted members. The allocation of the elected member places on the Panel is reviewed annually and the membership reflects the political balance across the five local authorities.

The meetings of the Panel are administered by Knowsley Council and the agendas and minutes of the meetings can be accessed on the Knowsley Council website.
