The role of the Transport Committee is to undertake transport and travel policy functions on behalf of the Combined Authority, together with certain delegated functions in relation to transport and travel, the development of funding proposals and oversight of Merseytravel as the Passenger Transport Executive and Executive Body for the Combined Authority.

The Committee is made up of 24 Members, comprising of four representatives from each of the six Constituent Councils of Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, St Helens, Sefton, and Wirral.
